Military veteran village trend
original Mingde No.11
The image of "Two Sky" represents the conflict and comparison of China and Taiwan during the war era. After Chinese Civil War, the ROC government built the consensus of fighting back among the public, shouting the slogan of "Anti-Communist and Anti-Russian", propagating the goal of attack on the mainland, and promoting the Cultural Renaissance movement against the "Liberation of Taiwan" and the Cultural Revolution. It also became part of the villagers' memory. These slogans are more likely to be seen in military villages. They include cultural differences caused by war, Cultural Revolution and the Cultural Renaissance movement, as well as human rights incidents derived from the anti-communist era such as white terror. In 2017, the government promoted the policy of transitional justice for the purpose of improving human rights and prosecute relevant parties who have improperly violated human rights in the past.
"The Post Military Village Era: fences down, skyscrapers up" is a slogan that indicates the issue of the reconstruction map of Zuoying Dependent Village and the revitalization of the old Dependent Village. With the social transformation, the villages also faced some impacts under the urban development, gradually becoming an unmanageable space. Nowadays, under the trend of preservation, many old households have been designated as cultural assets with contemporary significance. For example, the promotion of "protection by residence" has transformed the field spirit of the military and dependents’ residences into a different humanistic living space, recruiting people who love the military’s villages to work together to continue the richness of the military’s villages. AR experience is also provided in the exhibition area. Visitors can wear a special AR glasses to see the comparison of the photos of now and the past.
